Creating from SPACE

  • I'm Mayank Saxena, an educator of Mindfulness & Meditation.

My passion is to help others with silencing their thoughts.

How do you go from being on top of your A-game,

to becoming a caregiver to a dying loved one?

How do you turn the resentment of your own losses

into fuel to help pass a federal bill in the country?

How do you deal with dreams that are sidelined,

    while experiencing PTSD and trauma

  • In a time of hyperstimulation and hyper-reactivity, I teach the tools to create space within the mind, which is conducive to creativity. If you are feeling burnt out, slighted by chance or life experiences, or feel like others thrive while you're white-knuckling the pavement, that immediately bleeds not only into your life - but into your art. How can it not?
Having an anchor in your inner life leads to stability of the mind, and from that comes safety of the imagination to truly create. Whether you want to create new experiences in your life, or in your chosen art - there are progressive tools that can help bring even the distressed mind into a state of calm. And from there, creativity.
Take your mind from vascillation to stillness. When we learn to consistently maintain that stillness - just observe the quality of creative work that emerges from that blank canvas within. For your art, and certainly for your life. It's an honor to share the gift of Creating from S P A C E.
    - Mayank Saxena

If you want to learn how to experience this quality of life, this is where I can be of service.

  • For Adults

If you have an artistic streak, whether as an actor, writer, dancer, musician, other thespian - or even aren't in the arts, this will appeal to the part of you that thrives when it's creative. Regardless of your job, everyone has an inner artist that thrives when it creates. Even accountants, doctors, and mechanics all thrive when they tap into their ability to create and problem-solve. This is universal.

    For Children

One of my greatest dreams is to help the younger generation gain a skillset to still their mind. They are the most vulnerable ; those who grew up during social isolation, with virtual reality and social media as their only means to interact and react with their world. The prevalance of anxiety, depression, hyperreactivity, and seeking validation through temporary obsessions are the markers of this young generation. Of what use is one's Scholastic achievements, or having millions of social media Followers, if one cannot maintain equanimity from within?

    Easy Tools

Learn simple meditative exercises you can take with you and practice anytime, any place.

    Quiet your Mind

Politics. AI. Elections. War. Inflation. Strikes. Booking Gigs. News... and that's just the external chatter. Couple that with social media, coming out of the pandemic isolation, and our personal lives - you get it. It's time to effectively silence the racing mind.

    Clear Canvas

From this quiet mind, we can experience space. From space comes peace. The engine of the racing thoughts slow down enough to quiet our own biases and reactions. This is the place we aim to return to, time and time again. This is our practice which we will focus on.

    Focused Creativity

From this space we've experienced, we learn to reintroduce anything we choose to set our minds to. It's important to experience this powerful step straight from your imagination. This is what is meant by Creating from SPACE.

    Anchor your Life

We all need our own North Star, something that we can hold steady to, even when the storms of life have us feeling like we're about to lose everything. That compass is within us all, and we will learn about how to establish connection with it so our quality of life will improve. Let us begin our work.

  • ABOUT MAYANK

Originally from NYC, I moved to LA a decade ago and have booked over 14 television roles, acting alongside Emmy and Oscar-winning actors. My career was thriving until tragedy struck: my sister was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Caring for her upended my life, leaving me shattered spiritually, financially, physically, and artistically. During this challenging time, I worked tirelessly to help pass a federal bill to help get dying ALS patients access to treatments in clinical trials. We were invited by the White House when the bill was signed into Law by the President.

But stepping away from acting, and feeling like I was sacrificing my life for a loved one, forced me into a corner. Through the accelerated difficulties I faced, I benefitted from a system of self-healing, which rejuvenated both my life and my art.

Utilizing various therapy modalities, and my deep-rooted & long-standing practice of meditation from my family's native India, I transformed my mindset from despondency to equanimity. Amidst the perceived ruins of my former life, I rebuilt a newer, more evolved self and, as a result, became a deeper artist, and a person whose capacity for delight has increased.

We live in an environment where we're influenced to behave and react a certain way, and have major FOMO. Many have hard times managing their anxiety or facing friction in their life. If we cannot navigate our own lives in a healthy manner - how on Earth are we to approach creating a character of substance? This must change.

    FAQ

    Q - Is this a Meditation class?

A - Yes and No. In a loose sense, meditation tends to generally mean to focus upon something reptitive that isn't as polarizing to the individual, so as to help quiet the mind. The issue becomes when we come out of it - how can we maintain peace beyond the practice? More importantly, how can we leverage this in our creation process? This class is a bridge between those two dichotemies.

    Q - Is this Therapy?

A - No. A qualified therapist can help us navigate our individual issues and concerns. The more modalities a trained therapist has under their belt, the more tools they are armed with in helping you navigate your life. I am blessed to be the beneficiary of various tools of theraphy (not just "talk therapy", or CBT). This class will provide a blueprint for those who wish to make their native thought patterns less disruptive in their lives, which can feel therapeutic - but no, this is not a subsititution for therapy.

Q - So then, what is this class?!

A - This class teaches the fundamentals of HOW to create inner space. There's enough TikTok videos and inspirational Insta quotes to make our heads spin. It's time to put down the phone, and start to actually APPLY tools, in real-time, so you can experience the benefits... and once you get a small experience of this space, it is my powerful belief you will automatically keep these habits going stong..

Q - Where is class held?

A - In person, at a studio in North Hollywood, with ample parking available. Virtual sessions TBA.

    WHY NOW

COVID halted everything for years. Then the strikes continued to shutdown our industry for more than we could bear. Then the political climate became more polarizing than ever... oh, and we're also getting older, while A.I. seems to be uprooting our livelihoods, while those in established roles soar, while most are left in the dust.

More and more people are exhibiting signs of anxiety, emotional highs and lows, and feelings of worthlessness. Reactive rage, and feeling dispassionate are seeds you neither want in the soil of your art, nor your personal life.

Outdated methods taught that only starving, troubled, and traumatized humans make artists. No. There is so much leverage to create from a place of stability and choice.

And also - why would anyone WANT to live like that? There is so much noise and static from everyone around us - what ever happened to our ability to tap into our own critical-thinking and creative processes?

Amidst this chaos, we also live in a time where we have unprecedented access to information, and tools, that were previously unknown. So let's take advantage of that which serves us; clarity, a calm mind, stable breath, and do more listening and less reacting to triggers. When we learn to watch our thoughts, we can decide to turn "on" and 'off" certain aspects of ourselves by CHOICE - instead of being led by how we feel.

It's time we take ownership of ourselves as mindful humans and artists, and apply ourselves to create both a life worth enjoying, and art worth sharing.

  • Have you ever watched your favorite actor, and the camera just pans into a closeup... and you see they're in another world, from scratch? How'd they do that? How can you do that? First, we must start with a blank canvas. I'll help you with that pivotal step.

"As a creative, it’s a constant challenge trying to find the balance between my personal and creative life—and that’s when things are going well! But what happens when life throws unexpected challenges our way? Whether it be health, financial, personal, etc., how do we continue to make space for our creative pursuits and dreams, while still acknowledging and processing the challenges we are forced to face? In this workshop, Mayank teaches various meditation strategies, techniques, and tips to help one navigate his/her personal challenges while still maintaining focus on their creative goals. Mayank’s backstory and personal connection to the life-changing effects he’s experienced using this method is inspiring! His passion for helping his fellow creatives is palpable. Mayank teaches you how to not just 'drown out the noise,' but rather, to acknowledge it and move forward. I recommend Creating from SPACE to anyone who is looking for more focus and balance in their creative life and wants to be a part of a community of other high-achieving, highly motivated individuals."

"Mayank is a wealth of knowledge for the emotionally educated"

“I was lucky to attend the Mindful Morsels seminar at Coffee Confessionals and it was a really wonderful time. Mayank is a great public speaker and is quick with his wit to make a calm event pretty exciting. He knows what he’s talking about because of his prior experiences with PTSD and therapy and is a wealth of knowledge for the emotionally educated like me. He had us run two small 5 minute exercises, one easier than the other and quite the polar opposites. After a few days of running the exercises one could do a lot better at staying present and slowing down to analyze each moment rather than overreact to a stimuli. I’m talking about you road rage!!! It was a great experience and I recommend anyone to please try it out.”

“ I've been continuing to meditate and it brings me such clarity. I'm gonna guide my friend through it soon and I think it's really gonna help them. I also have a big meeting today, so I'll be sure do it before that so I can center myself. I feel so much more prepared and in control. Thank you so much for that!”

“Thank you again for your gift of time and labor of love. I am glad I partook in your workshop! It was a great space and great gathering of good people. You have this amazing aura of joy and centeredness about you that no one would guess you have had this happen in your life.”
